Founded in 2000, Clarendon Group is a strategic communications firm led by Christine Heenan and drawing on the talents of a range of associates in communications, media, politics, education, health care and non-profits. In its first few years, Clarendon grew to be a leading regional public affairs agency known for its expertise in health care and education policy. The firm won numerous awards for advocacy and communications, ran successful ballot campaigns for affordable housing and voting rights, and in 2006 was recognized nationally with the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence
​in Workplace Flexibility. Clarendon Group has advised public and private sector leaders and multi-national organizations ranging from leading biotech companies to luxury retailers to the world's most respected philanthropies, colleges and universities. 

 

Christine Heenan, founder and president of the Clarendon Group, is called upon for her expertise in strategy, crisis management, health care, education and policy built over decades of work with leadership teams of some of the nation’s most notable organizations. She is an advisor to Harvard University, where she served as Vice President for Public Affairs & Communications from 2008 to 2015. Heenan has also served as Senior Communications Advisor for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and a member of the Creative Council at Burson-Marsteller, the global public relations firm.  

Heenan served with the Clinton-Gore Administration as senior policy analyst on the White House Domestic Policy Council staff and focused on health care policy, health reform, and women’s issues. In addition to her role at Harvard, Heenan also served as Director of Community and Government Relations for Brown University. She taught communications and public policy at both Brown and Harvard, and has lectured at UK universities and at Chatham House.

Heenan began her career in business strategy consulting for Telesis and SJS – spinoffs of Boston Consulting Group -- working on business process analysis, cost analysis, market strategy, and strategic planning for national and international corporations including Corning, Rubbermaid, Ahlstrom and IKEA. She has served on a number of boards focused on child development, education, and economic policy. She and her family live in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
